Pictures!

I tried to post last weekend, I swear I did.  But unfortunately the internet was down until today.  But here I am!  Last week seemed like the longest week ever.  I'm not sure why, but it did.  I was fighting a cold over the weekend, but at least Joe got out and had some fun.  He went out bird hunting by honda and shot 2 ptarmigan and a goose.  Sandra tried to make him feel bad by telling him that geese mate for life, but that didn't phase him.  After bird hunting in the morning, he went moose hunting by boat that night.  He's gone out several times (including the last 2 nights) but hasn't had any luck.  He's taken some pretty awesome pictures of the river at sunset, but he'll have to post those later.

Our week started out with no water, no power, and no internet.  It's always an adventure when the power goes out in the middle of a school day....or in this case, pretty early on in a school day.  My class this year is full of very active imaginations, and I heard everything from it being ghosts, to hairy man (bigfoot), to the little people.  We made it through with a couple of flashlights I found in our science kits and some fun games at carpet.  We can't release kids before 1:00 or we have to make it up at the end of the year, so that's usually the cut off.  Luckily, or maybe unluckily, the generators finally kicked on at 12:50.

Today I took my kiddos out to pick berries.  The cranberries are done for the year, but we got about 2 gallons of blackberries, and a few blueberries.  Tomorrow we'll be making agudak (eskimo icecream made with lard, sugar, pike fish, and berries) and we'll squish up the rest for paint.  I talked to the kids before we left about trying to get all berries into their baggies, and not into their mouths.  So it's funny when they come to me with blue faces and claim they haven't eaten any.  Silly kids.

Joe took a few pictures so you can see my ever expanding waist line.  Today was the first day in about 6 weeks that I felt sick.  I think my morning sickness is back.  If not that, then I caught a bug.  Luckily my kids understood and let me run out on them to puke in the bathroom.  They really crack me up with this whole pregnancy thing.  The baby gets hugs every day and they'll tell each other to be good so they don't make the baby sad.  When we dance, the baby is dancing too, and when we practice our letters, of course the baby is practicing too.

I washed and folded all of the baby clothes we bought in town and put them away in his dresser.  They're so cute...and tiny.  I can't wait.

  1. I look at these pictures and it looks like you're our little girl playing dress-up; you look so cute. I wish you weren't so far from home. Hope you're feeling better.

Moose hunting by boat - really!? How does that even work? Be careful Joe.

I don't think the baby should be eating that eskimo ice cream. We don't want him acquiring a taste for that, ewwwww! This grandma won't be keeping any in my freezer.

Thanks for the pictures. We love seeing the changes! Love, Mom

  2. Hi kiddos. Janna, you're looking great! So cute with the pigtails. We love hearing the updates on your pregnancy, so exciting. Uncle Dennis said to give you a big "thumbs up" on the name Max, and I like it too. Simple and perfect. And one syllable. It's a keeper.

It's so odd to see your kids all bundled up in coats and hats. It's only September. We're having a heat wave here again, and I'm hoping it's a short one. I made some ice cream in the cuisinart (minus the pike fish and lard, thank you) and we've been working on it pretty steadily. My waistline is expanding too!

Take care of yourselves...and keep the pictures and blogs coming, we love it.

    love,
    Auntie Di
